Picture
Genus Fissurina (suspected)
Description: The genus Fissurina typically has low abundance and is thought to be rare but present in equatorial Pacific sediments (Schonfeld, 1995). The genus has high species diversification. Shell is rounded or elongated, ovate, and compressed. The whole shell is surrounded by a peripheral keel and inside the keel on either side of the shell is a raised rim surrounding the body. The shell has a semi-elongated neck and the shell surface is smooth. Typical adult size is 500 - 700 microns.

More information: Schonfeld, 1995; USNM, 1910

The 1 scanned specimen is obtained from a shallow sediment core of the Ontong Java Plateau in the western equatorial Pacific.

Note: Data 'stacks' contain the minimally processed 3D data (TIF files) that can be imported into your favorite 3D data processing software program (we use imageJ). The STL file is processed and ready for 3D printing.
