Globorotalia hirsuta
Life: G. hirsuta is a non-spinose deeper dwelling planktic foraminifera. This species is abundant in temperate waters of the modern ocean.
Distinguishing features: Species have 4 lobate chamber in the final whorl, and a thick, relatively high-trochospiral test. This species has a pronounced keel, smooth surface with pustules, and an open aperture positioned umbilical-extraumbilical. Typical adult size >250 microns.

There is 2 scanned G. hirsuta shells. Specimens are from a shallow core on the Ontong Java Plateau in the western equatorial Pacific.

Note: Data 'stacks' contain the minimally processed 3D data (TIF files) that can be imported into your favorite 3D data processing software program (we use imageJ). The STL file is processed and ready for 3D printing. Each foram also has a 3D model that you can manipulate online.
