Foraminarium

A Repository for 3D Foraminifera Models

Welcome to the Foraminarium, an online repository for MicroCT generated 3D models of foraminifera. Our goal is to generate 3D models for every extant (living) planktic foram species and make the data readily available for teaching and outreach purposes. The models also include several benthic foraminifera and extinct planktic species. We also have a suite of teaching modules that rely use 3D foraminifera models. The modules can be used as tabling activities at outreach events or in the classroom.
Have a foram (or other microfossil) you'd like to have scanned on a MicroCT scanner?
Contact us for details related to our project or contact the Oregon State University microCT facility directly.

OUR GOAL

We plan to generate at least one 3D model of every extant (still living) planktic foraminifera, some benthic, and even some extinct species. Visit the page again to see additional models added to the site.
